What do you think of the rain?

This morning I woke up to the sound of the rain. My first thought was “Oh god my umbrella is in my car?” … As you all know it’s in the car hospital. I’ve been without it for 3 days now.

Anyway … Back to the rain. I just love the sound. Laying in bed and snuggled under the covers. I got up and opened the curtains. Yes it’s maybe silly but I feel at peace listening to it.

Now I’m on the train to work and no rain. Have a spare umbrella though … Lol

What’s sound of nature or anything else do you like?

Valentines Day

This day of “love” is fast approaching.  What do you have in store for this day?

Well I will be in New Zealand for my sisters 50th birthday.

Let me see ….. Who of you are romantics at heart?  Do you spoil your partner, spending a lot of money for this day?   In my experience I feel that love should be showed everyday and we shouldn’t wait on particular day to show how much we care.

What is love?  Lots of people don’t really know the meaning of this word.  I was married once and my ex-husband only told me he loved me when he was intoxicated.  Love is understanding each other, respecting each others views and feelings, commitment to the relationship and what it stands for.  It’s about giving and receiving.  Loving with no boundaries and accepting who we are.  When we in that foul mood and they will look at you understanding and still love you with all their heart.

I hear friends and people talk.  They throw this word around like it’s something with no meaning what so ever.  Who of you have this love I’m talking about?

I found this quote:  The meaning of True Love

The meaning of true love is when you care for your lover’s happiness more than yours, when only he matters in your life and always be there for him.”

This would apply to all of us not just “him” ….. now where do our kids come into this.  It’s the same, right?  We have to love our kids with respect and understanding.  If we don’t they go off the rails and we’ve lost them.

I will be honest with you guys/gals …. I have not found this kind of love in all of my 45 years.  I’m am still waiting and when it comes by god I’ll be ready ……. 🙂

Cape Town, South Africa

I have always wondered what it will be like to visit my country of birth again.

The last time I visited Cape Town, South Africa was back in 2000.  Talking to my cousin over there and with my daughter in my ear about going back is giving me the bug to return for at least 5 weeks.  I remember Table Mountain and just sitting outside on the porch looking out at the clouds drifting .  We called it the “table cloth”.  On particular days you knew what the weather would be like for the day.

Unlike Melbourne …. Four seasons on one day.

The question is where do I go first.  When I was there back in 200 with my sister we took it on like tourists.  It was fun and we got lots of compliments about our new accents.  So what do you think my daughter and I should do first?

I know …. Table Mountain.  Take her up with the cable car.  Oh …. no I can’t climb up there.  Mum in her day did with her friends and my dad.  They were adventurous.  Yes … I am, but I’d like to see it the proper way again.

So tell me about your adventures and if you’ve gone back to your native country, tell what your experience was and why you would or wouldn’t go back.

Happy #New #Year

I just wanted to take the time in wishing all of you a happy new year and hope 2014 brings you joy and happiness.

We all have aspirations and wishes for the new year and hope all come true.

How about you tell me yours ….

Mine is to continue with my writing, continue with my Creative Writing Workshops and most importantly take my daughter to Cape Town, South Africa to see where I come from and meet my family.

Buried Secrets …. a small part from the book

This is a small piece from “Buried Secrets’ ……

He saw three men walking towards him. As they approached he started to move in a different direction. Someone grabbed him from the back yelling for him to get down. He was pushed to the ground with a gun pointed to his head.

One of the men yelled out, “Hey man, we here to get our stuff. Where is it?”

“What stuff?” Shafik asked panicking.

“Don’t play with me man,” the black eyed guy said. The others had knives out swinging it around.

“Look if I knew what you were talking about I’d help you, but as it stands I don’t know anything,” Shafik said nervously.

“Well then, we’ll just have to do the next best thing,” the black eyed guy said looking at his buddies, laughing.

“And what is that?” Shafik asked with his heart beating uncontrollably in his chest.

More pieces to come later ……

Royal Baby

Today as I was driving my daughter and her friends to school I heard on the radio about the birth of the royal baby.

I’m so pleased for them. They will be great parents. Then I thought “wow this baby doesn’t even know his own destiny” …

We all come into this world for a purpose. This baby has his.

What’s yours?
